Hercules

Many people know the Disney movie Hercules but did you know that this movie has almost nothing to do with what Hercules actually did? Hercules is a demi god (half god half mortal (human)) that preformed 12 labors/tasks to cleanse himself of his sins.  They were to kill the lion of Nema, overcome the Hydra, capture the golden stag, capture a wild boar, clean the Augean stables, destroy Stymphalian birds,

Main Ideas: The main idea or moral of Hercules is that no matter what you do wrong you can do something else to repay for what you did wrong. Hercules would never have preformed any of these tasks if he didn't kill his wife and children.

Summary: Hercules is was a demi god (half god half mortal (human)). He was named after Hera, which made her very mad because Hercules wasn't her child, Zeus had cheated on her! Hera was jealous that she caused Hercules to kill his wife and children. He wanted to cleanse himself of his sins so he went to the Oracle that told him he must serve King Eurystheus for 12 years. The King was extremely happy to have a son of Zeus so willingly that he (with the help of Hera) created 12 seemingly impossible tasks for Hercules to challenge.

Best part: In my opinion the best part about the story was when Hercules fought the Hydra. The Hydra is a 9-headed snake like monster that lived near the swamp.  The concept of the Hydra is that every time you slice a head off another two grow back in its place and one of the 9 heads couldn't die. This was very interesting to see how Hercules had overcome the Hydra while battling it because he didn't find out about the Hydra regrowing heads until he fought it. He defeated the Hydra by slicing heads off then immediately closed the wound by burning it with a fiery stick. As for the head that couldn't die... he rolled a boulder on it!

Worst part: I think the worst part of the story was when he had to bring back the belt from the Queen of the Amazons. This task seemed very anti climatic because Hercules goes to the island where the Amazon's live and asks for the belt and gets it.  The only interesting part of this ask is when the Hera starts a battle between Hercules and the Amazons.

My opinion: The story was well planned out and descriptive. It flowed well and some task made sense but others not so much. Overall was an enjoyable experience.

Ratings: Story line: 8/10
             how Exciting it was: 7/10
             Overall experience: 7.5/10

  1. I agree, the Amazon part was pretty dull.
Good review of the story Ryan.

You could have done a comparison between the movie and the story for a little more media related content.
