If I could live anywhere in the world

If I could live anywhere in the world I would live in Los Angeles.  Los Angeles would be the perfect place for me to live because it has everything I would want in a city to live there.  Los Angeles has great weather, it has beaches, and it has lots of activities to do during the day or night.

Los Angeles's weather is very hot in the summer but if you get solar panels on your roof then you can power your entire house over the summer!  This means that there will be no electricity bills over the summer.  You and your friends can use any electrical device in your house without the worry of paying the electrical bill.    In the winter it is very warm for a winter at 10 degrees Celsius to 23 degrees Celsius.  This means that there wont be any snow.   Having no snow means that you don't need to shovel your driveway, no snow gear (snow pants, snowshoes, gloves, etc) and you won't need to use energy to warm your house or car.

Los Angeles's beaches are vast because L.A. is on the west coast of the United States. Since Los Angeles is on the Pacific Rim the beaches are on the Pacific Ocean.  The Pacific Ocean is the biggest ocean by far. It is 155,557,000 Square Kilometers.  Also if you buy a beach house, wouldn't you like to wake you and see the ocean from your house?  Wouldn't you want to watch the sunset over the ocean everyday?  Well in L.A. all that could happen.  Lastly you wouldn't have to worry about how cold the ocean would be because the entire season it will be 10 degrees Celsius at least.

Finally L.A.'s activities. L.A. has many great places to visit in the night or day. During the day you could go golf. Then go to one of L.A.'s many national parks. Next you would go to a zoo or aquarium. During the night you could go to the dock and ride a cruise while eating dinner. After a long day of activities you come back home, go to the beach and watch the sunset in the distance.  Now remember that this was only one day.  Think of the endless possibilities that you could do in L.A.

In conclusion L.A. would be the perfect retirement country for me. It has nice weather, a place to cool off (the beach) and lots of activities.

 Do-over generation

My opinion on the Do-Over generation.                                                                            August 28,2010
In this essay I will give my opinion on the Do-over generation.
Many years have gone by while students still hand in work late and don't get penalized. "The do over generation, raised to believe they can do anything but never have to do it on time." After two years the teachers, school boards, and parents had to do something about it. They created a new policy that stated that kids in grades one through twelve have made their teachers realize that they have been getting away with handing work in late for too long now.

In my opinion I think that I have to agree with the teachers, school boards and parents. Even though I would love to hand in assignments late it just wouldn't make sense. Image when you are in you thirty and you have a wife with kids. Your kids are late for school, your wife is late for work and so are you. Your boss arrives just before the store opens at 6:00 P.m.  If the do over generation stayed that way the entire earth would become late.

Handing in work late creates laziness and with this rule you wont want to be lazy. In the text it says that high school students who missed 20 per cent of class lost a credit. "For the first time, students who miss 20 per cent of class time will now lose a credit." To graduate high school you need 30 credits. If you loose a credit then you will have to spend some of your summer going to summer school to regain that credit but if you miss 20 per cent of class in more than one class you are going to spend a lot of time in summer school. Now think about that would you rather be lazy, hand in your work late and go to summer school or hand in all your work in on time, not be lazy and not go to summer school. The choice is yours.

In the text it says that last year they surveyed teachers asking them about their class and the absenteeism and late assignments. Of the 562 teachers that responded 62 per cent stated that they experienced absenteeism and 84 per cent experienced late assignments handed in. "Of the 562 who responded, 62 per cent the rule had resulted in a higher level of absenteeism and 84 per cent said they had experienced an increase in late assignments."

In conclusion I think that the teachers, school boards and parents made a good decision in penalizing students for late work and being late for class. Even though I would love to never have deadlines there is a consequence for everything.
